Toddler?

Seriously, how did this happen? I woke up and all of a sudden I don't have a baby anymore. She is a toddler almost over night! Its kind of crazy. She was taking almost a 3 hour nap from like 11-2. And then it was literally over night she started taking a 1.5 hour nap starting at 1pm.  And now, nap time consists of me asking her if she is tired and wants to nap, she goes and gets her favorite giraffe and goes into her room! Its so fun to see how she is growing up. What is NOT so fun is bed time where she is persisting CONSISTENTLY plus she is also waking up at night for no reason. She's not hungry, not hurting, just crying. Its so bizarre and we have NO idea why or what to do. So if you have any suggestions we would gladly take them.

Our church offers progressive parenting classes that are AMAZING! The last one we read On Becoming Baby Wise: Book II. Basically the goal from  12 months-18 months is to "not lose any ground". I remember thinking that sounded weird, like it would be a battle and no fun. Well it is definitely a battle at night and no fun. We worked hard in the beginning to establish a schedule for her and it was wonderful. Sleeping through the night very early, and super happy girl during the day. I now understand the "not losing any ground" part now. I SOOO just wanna go in her room and rock her to sleep. BUT, I know she is fine and I SOOO don't want rocking her to sleep to be the norm. So hopefully she will learn it is bedtime and get with the program :) But until then I tell her that I love her even when she isn't "good", because isn't that was Christ does with us?

Romans 8:38 & 39- For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I sin all day long, and he STILL loves me all day long. I can do nothing to make Him love me any more, or any less. I so wish to instill this knowledge in Inara. Once again being her Mom brings me to Jesus. It is good.

She BEGS to be outside at all times!

  1. your doing the right thing if it's what works for you. but if you want to rock her, my advice is go rock her. :-) next year when you're saying she's a little girl not a toddler, you'll be glad you did. :-) You're her mom. You know best.

  2. I know what you mean. I already wish I would have held her more as a baby. The funny thing is, about a month ago she was sick and having trouble sleeping at night. So I did TRY to snuggle her, but she was breathing so loudly and was so squirmy that I ended up just putting her back in her crib. :)
