First week of Preschool

Well...we did it. We made it through our first week of preschool at home.  And I was really great. I feel like we didn't just "make it through", but we had a lot of fun together and it was awesome :)  I know it was just one week, but I think we will both really like doing this together and both grow a lot. I really wanted to do a "First Day of Preschool" picture, but I felt like death on her first day and had to make my self get up and do school...let alone be creative and plan! :)  Here are some pics of our first week:

Our awesome calendar.

ABC Puzzle.  This was the first day, and she tried to start school in just her undies.
We explained a new rule...you must be clothed to start school :)

Helping with our Calendar Time

I bought the K4 Curriculum from Confessions of a Homeschooler.  It was only $15 and its pretty amazing. There are TONS of things to do.  I can't believe its so cheap! Last week was review for Uppercase and Lowercase letters and an assessment to see what they might need help with and this week is a review with numbers and shapes (also with an assessment). I was thinking about how she already knew everything in the Pre-K one so we would just move on.  But before I started this week, I was thinking how the K4 might be too challenging for her considering she isn't 4 yet and this would be her first of 2 years of Preschool.  K4 starts teaching sight words, adding, and subtracting (which she can do some of).  I just don't want it to be too hard for her and discourage her from learning.  I want her to learn at this age, that learning is fun!  So once we start move on from the review weeks, I will see how she is doing.  If it seems to frustrate her (not just challenge her), then I'll probably just modify it in some way.

I am also joining a preschool group with some friends from church.  We are going to take turns hosting the other families each week and do a group lesson. This way the kids can learn from each other and learn how to follow directions from other adults.  I am really excited to do this with some of friends :)  I host this week (this morning actually) and I am excited to teach about the Letter A :)
