Road Trip

Last weekend Justin and I took our first road trip since being married! Can you believe that?! Justin's dad broke his leg and was cooped up in the house. So we arranged a surprise visit to keep him company. He was VERY surprised. He wondered why we were there....and where Inara was. We had to break the bad news that a 15 hour car ride with a 21 month old is fun for no one involved.

One night we went to their local  Moose Lodge. It was really fun and super cute to see some fairly older couples breakin it down on the dance floor. One woman was even REALLY dressed up. I told Justin that when we get older, he better continue to date me :)  I also participated and WON my first ever cake walk. I had never heard of it before but I was really excited to win a sweet treat!. I spent one afternoon at the pool just relaxing a reading. For me, it is pure bliss to relax without a kiddo at a pool. No splashing, diapers, whining, getting in the pool, getting out, more whining....just me...a good book...the hot sun..and silence! It was wonderful!

And speaking of books. I have started reading a new book that makes the hubs SUPER happy.  During the trip I started reading A Game of Thrones. I previously had been pretty resistant to it. I mean I would say I have become pretty nerdy since marrying a nerd. I am ok with that, but this book just seemed too nerdy for me...I mean even the title seems awful! Well I agreed I would give it a try. Justin said if I read 100 pages and didn't like it, then I could stop. Well I started reading it...read a little more...and before I knew it I was half way through the book!  We even listened to the audio book most of the ride home and now I am hooked. But still kind of mad a Justin for getting me hooked. This series is SEVEN books and they are all at LEAST 750 pages. So I can't believe I am now in this for the long haul.  But it is a good read!

A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire: Book One
I mean even the cover looks nerdy right?!

We had a really good time and mostly just relaxed at their trailer.  It was really nice to visit with his parents and we are really excited to go back in October for a whole week. We will be flying down next time so Inara can join our adventure. I had a great time, but I REALLY missed my baby girl...who by the way will be 2 years old soon...how did that happen?
