Doh

That's kind of how I feel right now! I have forgotten to share some really awesome things God is doing in our lives. So please excuse my Homer Simpson moment.  Starting in September Justin and I will be starting to lead a small group at our church.  We are really excited. And also really excited for our friends The Hampels to be hosting it! Justin use to do YoungLife with Joe and I was roommates with Jessica (who by the way was ALWAYS trying to get me to go out with "Duke"...it worked eventually. That's for another post). When our lives kind of went separate ways we were kind of bummed. I mean we really liked them but it seemed we could only get together like once a year...major bummer :( So when the opportunity presented it self we were SUPER exited to have them serve with us.

I think at first I was nervous to share because I didn't want it to seem like we had "arrived" or anything like that. But then our awesome small group gave us some very encouraging scriptures and I realized that this is SO not about us, but about God and being obedient to him. Here are some of the verses they left us with and they made quite the impact!

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8
Instead, we were like young children among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

That verse left me feeling overwhelmed. Being a shepherd and nurturing is a lot of work. I mean how could I do it...and do it well?  But I was so thankful to have a great example in our small group leader's wife, Linda. She IS this verse through and through. Always calling and emailing to see how things are going. And she remembers everything. A prayer request from months ago..she remembers because she prays! So thankful...but still overwhelmed, then this was shared:

John 15:4-5
Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

And a HUGE weight was lifted from my shoulders as I was reminded by great friends that it is ONLY through Him anything good is done through me. I am not great. I am not caring. not loving. nothing. I am empty without him and I truly can do nothing without His help. Oh how great a relief is that!

Oh yes Lord! I need you!
